3. LIA:
Literal: (a) “I, Curtis Lopez, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.” (b) In my ROP Film/Video Production class I learn not only how to make films with a digital camera but I learn my different responsibilities on the different jobs such as producer, director, screenwriter, cinematographer, and editor. We learn that our jobs our so essential to our productions that no one should ever slack off on the job, we all have our jobs to do while in production and it is our responsibilty to make sure that we do not mess up on it. We also sometimes watch different films with different styles and genres such as silent, screwball comedy, cinema verite, and film noir.an in the future it is said that we the students will do a project based on one of those genres. I so far completed about eight projects (aka productions).
Interpretive: My class and including all the projects I have done in my class must sum up to even more than thirty hours of completion. We have about an hour of lessons and two hours of watching a film and plus it takes us days to do a production. There are stages in film production, development (coming up with the idea of story), pre-production (writing the screenplay, storyboarding, casting and hiring crew), production (filming and photography), post-production (editing and scoring), and distribution (publishing the film). We have about a day or two of development and pre-production, about two to three days of production, one to one and ah half day of editing and distribution. We had about four projects that dealt with all those stages and even for example my PSA to prevent Bullying video took about surprsingly three days in production and it's only thirty seconds.
Applied: This class helped me to answer my EQ ,which is What is most essenial during the production of a film, because one of my answers is an experienced, responsible, and well-devoted cast and crew, and I feel that the ROP class has answered with that same exact answer because we all learned how to be a cast and crew while in production of a film. A producer must always be the good problem solver, the eye for talent, and the chief and boss in charge of the whole production. The director is like a artist who is given a task to complete a picture and one who must always have a good vision and sense of what he/she wants the to see when the final cut is finally edited and ready to go and work with the actors to try to get into the mood of the scene that the director is trying to have them portray from his/her vision and also be responsible of the actors' being comfortable on set and make sure they are prepared and doing their given jobs. The cinematographer works with the director to get the right vision on camera and make sure the picture looks perfect so that there are no do overs (but there are many!). The screenwriter, who works during development and pre-production, is the one who starts it all, he/she either comes up with the story or is hired to write the story in format and include dialouge and actions in the screenplay so that the director could get the vision that he needs and which guides the actors through filming. Finally, the editor is the one who works with the director and given the job in putting the film together again through the director's vision and make sure all the scenes are fitted and put togehter and all effects and soundsync well with the film.
